I found the Airto Fogo LP and was wondering who he was.
Seems like it is really Waltel Branco? Some internet blogs claim he only put the music together?

from a blog:
Waltel Blanco - Jungle Bird Black Soul (com o pseud??nimo Airto Fogo)

In this doc, around the 08:10 mark, Waltel lists all the aliases he used at the time to record as a "foreigner" musician, because he couldn't do it as Waltel, due to contracts/legal issues.
Airto Fogo was one of them. But he didn't say too much about Airto or the other aliases.

Yeah, I'd love to know who this guy was/is. I found a Canadian press in Mtl a few yrs back and always assumed he's french, either from Quebec or France, because that's the only 2 places you find the record. He sounds euro and the picture on the cover (assuming it's him) looks nothing like waltel from what I can tell. Dudes an enigma for sure.

I think the comments in this blog explain where the confusion came from:

In the doc about Waltel, it's the interviewer who lists all these names and he just says "yeah, those were all me" but doesn't go into any detail. Waltel used a number of pseudonyms on novela soundtracks, and there's an Airto Fogo track on the international soundtrack to one of them. The guy probably assumed it was one of his fake names because it sounds like the other fake names he used. I don't think there's anything else that suggests it's Waltel Branco. Is there anything on the liner notes that suggests it was him?

The french dude, Sylvain Krief, claims to be Airto Fogo on his facebook page, and says he has the name registered in France, although in the bio for the facebook page he only mentions the lp, not the earlier 7" that was released under that name. At least the photo on the cover looks more like the french dude...
