Instrumental which sounds similar to Locksmith's "Unlock The Funk"?

Today i picked up the 12" of this:




Somehow it reminds me of a instrumental I heard in a mix before. Especially the synths sound very familiar, but I can't put my finger on it.
Does that ring a bell for somebody?

    Reminds me of Herbie's "Tell Everybody". Just not nearly as good.

    good one. But that's not the one I'm thinking of.
    I suspect it could be something Patrick Adams related.

    Finally I found it it's this:



    both came out the same year. Would be interesting who came up with it first.

    Apparently the song above is an extended version of this


    which came out in 1979. Obviously Locksmith borrowed the synth melody from the Johnson Products.
    Or has this melody appeared somewhere before?

    I like this one a lot more than Locksmith! Ray Parker was never averse to borrowing a rif here and there but could just be that was the synth du jour.
