Whether it was mainstream or lesser known, I just want a top 5 list from you folks. I have a movie night with old school friends a few times a year (getting older related), and I'm hosting. Before we head to a local bar, I want to show a movie, and I think it should be funny and put people in good spirits. Dry humour would be appreciated.
I like "The Party", even though it could be interpreted as "Brown Face", as a brownie, my Dad loves it and introduced it to me, and I loved it as a kid, and now as well. The mannerisms are tight, it's just classic!
Cheers

In it I reped My Cousin Vinnie. I think people were embarrassed for me.
1) My Cousin Vinnie
2) Spinal Tap
3) Dr Strangelove (Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb)
4) Trading Places
5) It's A Mad Mad Mad World
I think IAMMMW would go over well with a crowd. My guess is that you and your friends are to young to realize that the movie is filled with a dizzying array of the top comedy actors of the time and earlier times. Bonus Trivia James Brown released It's a Man's World as It's A Mans Mans Mans World to capitalize on the movie.
I can watch Spinal Tap and Coming To America over and over and over and over......
Delirious was mindblowing when it came out. Even more so than the Richard Live stuff.

I don't think Airplane is that funny but the disco dance scene is some of my favorite stuff EVER.

Yea...not like laugh out loud silly funny, but well-written and well-executed dark comedy funny.

All the musical references in that shit is hilarious. Huey Newton is too Black, Whitney Houston, Phil Collins vs Peter Gabriel.
Oh shit type shit.
I gotta return some VHS tapes.
Mr. Mike's Mondo Video: Old school SNL cast parody of Italian shock-docs ("Mondo Cane", etc)
that's one of my favourite movies in any genre but its not exactly "ha ha" funny. jerry lewis' is so dark and brooding in that flic.
