Had to start a finds thread, because, you know, there wasn't one and I've gotten some fun stuff from other folks round about in the past few weeks. Blair and Barron came from James' set sale (thanks!) who threw in a copy of Plum Happy for the wtfness of it (dblthanks!). The London Exp J 5 is from a waxi dude's set sale, who lives in the right neck of the woods for this LP, thanks Ad*m! Found all the others stuff local except for the Malcolm X, which plays great despite a rocked cover: E-bay 25$.. Oh yeah, shout out to my bud Wyatt who passed me the Faust.

  • nice haul! how much did you drop on the london experimental jazz lp? are those nucleus records candian pressings?

Hey N*oah. I paid 2 1/4 bills for the LEJ5, I got sick and tired of telling myself I'd find it in the field: needle inna haystack even in London these days. So when this crisp copy popped up reeking of minty freshness I jumped on it. The Nucleus: Elastic rock is OG British Press and a wicked LP. The other two are Canadian. Ian Carr was the dopeness, sad he's gone.

This was booted a while ago (last year?), so you could get a serviceable cover this way if you want.

nice. 225 is totally reasonable for that record in that condition. i think it usually goes for 300-400+. i still need that elastic rock, holleur if you feel like a trade.

Sick! Even without a cover that is a major come-up!

  • Near Mint Epiphone Les Paul Classic Transparent Black Quilt Top from Craigslist. Came with amp, strap, stand and cord all like new. My first solid-body guitar since the 90s. A real treat to play.

Been back a few days now from my Summer jaunt to Thailand and Malaysia.

Did some research before departing and discovered that the retro / second hand bug has recently hit Bangkok with a number of vintage clothing stores opening and quite a few record shops. Unlike the stores I had been to previously in BK which were filthy dirty, the new ones (to me at least) are located in malls with air con and other mod cons.

All are pretty easy to find, in fact through googling I found an article that listed all the shops that I visited.

Didn't find tonnes of stuff but a few things that made it worthwhile. Still waiting on a package of Thai funk 45's to arrive as well so more details of them when I get them.

First some pics of the stores. If you want any specific details just drop me a pm.

    I was at EM yesterday.
In the olden days everything was priced $2.10-4.20.
I was bemoaning the fact that now their prices are higher than mine.

Then I found this* for under $3.00:

Out of tune childrens choir with a free jazz group and electronics and a real vocalist.
    Listening now.

*Not my image, my cover is VG.

Funny, I was just regretting selling my copy of that Edith Hill record earlier today. 2 killer tracks on that. Don't think I'll be coming across it any time soon for that price though. Nice find.

i havent had a chance to get organized and post for about 2 months or more, so this is the highlights of my summer digging basically.

where you see some $1K+ psych records and weird acid archives type stuff a ways down, many of them (but not all) are weird 80's import/reissue/bootlegs (in and of themselves not easy to locate). but some are the real deal too. [spot the 'OG' Rockadelics!]. I had a very fruitful run in with a dedicated private press / obscure prog / hard psych collector who was selling off his goodies for reasonable $.

the rest is the usual mishmosh, but youll see many soul/disco gems, they are all from one ex(deceased) 70's radio DJ's collection

  • nice! definitely some worthy records in that BIG lot!

  • Bert had good taste.

That Moses album is probably the heaviest Danish psych record.

Bert did have great taste (it was a woman actually, apparently semi-militant / activist soul DJ in the 70s and 80s), but actually these are the winners i pulled out of 140 boxes i went thru over 6 months. Bert kinda hoarded everything related to soul and disco, and that included multiples of lionel richie, and unfortunately super skated oldies. if it was pre 1970, there was a 50/50 chance it was almost unplayable, so you had to check everything.

Fun to see "fire fly" there in the mix...kinda a country instr.

    Some 45's
Johnny Nash - groovy feeling - JAD
Spoonbread - I'd like to make it with you - stang
    Sam & Dave - I got everything I need - Stax

And a few other easy listening jernts.
