All my "projects" are from a long time ago, I've been out of the biz for a really long time. I started out doing PR for rap groups. I was the publicist for The Jungle Bros 2nd LP and Tribe Called Quest's first 2 albums. I worked with Public Enemy, Slick Rick, LL Cool J, 3rd Bass, all of Delicious Vinyl's acts-Tone Loc, Young MC, Brand New Heavies etc. and many more. I helped do press for Beastie Boys Paul's Boutique LP and became friendly with the group. Eventually, I started giving them a lot of records that they sampled for Check Your Head, Ill Communication and Hello Nasty. I wrote some stuff for Grand Royal Magazine, really fun times. Yauch's death has been weighing really heavily on me. Later I did A&R for Atlantic Records and signed some rap groups, none of which sold very well. Eventually I left the music biz and just kept buying vinyl, something I've been doing since I was 9 years old. I got really into funk & soul through my love of sampling and hip hop and started buying soul and funk actively in the late 80s. I used to DJ for fun around NYC occasionally, but hadn't in many years so I started this blog as a way to share my love of these records and this music. Hope people on here enjoy it. Thanks, glad you are enjoying my short comments. I'm too lazy to usually go on and on about a record. There are plenty of sites with exhaustive knowledge, I can't compete with them. As far as the PE concert at Rikers, here's what I remember. We were on a old school Yellow School bus going there (god knows why a school bus). I was riding with Bill Adler, at the time the head publicist for RUSH Management. He told me to take my earring out or else the inmates would think I was available fresh meat. He was fucking with me, trying to freak me out (it worked, I was 20 or 21 years old). PE didn't perform in front of the whole prison population, it was a select, I guess, hand picked group of inmates, maybe 100 or 150 guys if memory serves, but I could be wrong. We were separated from the inmates by police barricades. There were a bunch of COs and lots of media with cameras. There must be footage of this somewhere. Anyway, PE performed several songs (not Black Steel In The Hour Of Chaos though) and the prisoners got pretty riled up. Chuck D was encouraging them to raise a fist and shout "Fight The Power"! It was an interesting scene to say the least. I got to do a lot of really cool things during my years in the music biz, great memories.

i liked the h2o record and the dudes sounded good on themic. they came up to my school in poughkeepsie once and were too high to freestyle, but i think everyone had fun regardless. l.i groove is thorough!
