I remember seeing Jeff Mills playing with 3 turntables and (i think) an 808 here back in the mid/late 90's and to this day I still can not get over what he was able to do!!

Funny you mention this. I was talking to a DJ frond over the weekend about EDM being akin to hair metal/arena rock at this point. No shots, but it's definitely reached that level.

Well, that Swedish House Mafia documentary is certainly full of Spinal Tap moments. It's on Hulu if you haven't checked it out - it's only 45 minutes long, and it's hilarious.
I have seen techno dudes in minnepolis destroy a room with an 808, 707 and an effects pedal. I would love to see HeirDeadmau5 even try to work those machines. What a tool.

He is an avid collector of old analogue synth and I'm quite sure he has a 808 & 707 somwhere "filed" in his collection.
After watching this, I still doubt his ability to work with modular synths/analog synths and make music with them. Just because he understands patching because "like umm dude, it's just like in reason/rebirth/fruityloops" does not me he knows his way around making music with them. And collecting synths has absolutely nothing to do with making music with them. The reasons his "productions are executed exceptionally well from a technical point of view" is because of his goddamn ableton midiclock which runs his life wah wah wah (i need it to trigger the lights, poor me)
And he's not a dj he's a producer.

What I wanted to say he is a good sound designer / sound engineer, which doesn't make him a good musician, producer nor dj.

Yeah, I'm sure it's on their unrecouped balance as a promo video, but it's kind of unusual to have a promo video which promotes its subjects as a bunch of juvenile, pampered dickheads with zero self-awareness and an over-inflated view of their own talent.
