    didn't he produce some of Nice and Smooth's first LP? or did he just engineer it?

    He just engineered it. Greg Nice and Smooth B produced it.

    Well, a little from column A, a little from column B. As Doc said in the infamous Paul C article:

    That said, I agree that his solo productions were not so good. That Chosen Ones album, for example, is booty.
