    Yes, that was Voco - he was a DJ at a freeform rock station in San Francisco at the time (1972, I think it was?).

    and they're 'crate digger' records too!

    Props to my man for being that into contemporary soul (of the early 70's), which was still a bit of an oversight with most white FM rock jocks.

  • just copped one on the cheap, it was kinda dusty so they were almost giving
    it away, ran it through the record vacume=minty fresh.

    1. It is Jimmy Scott's record, but the man and woman are shown getting buck-wild to Ray Charles, with his albums scattered casually on the floor. (Well, it's a given since he owned the label and likely produced the album...) At least the chick on the cover of that Meters record was listening to both the band and the producer (Allen Toussaint).
    2. 1962 was pretty early to depict an interracial couple on an album cover; this was a bold move.
    3. A few years later, this same fireplace would be used on the cover of:
