Bought over 70 records in the past two days..half of which are good modern soul (first love, chapter 8, webster lewis, waldo, tyrone davis, etc). Here's a few highlights from the other stuff
couple of nice northern soul cuts.
Good album throughout. Would never expect it to pop up for three bucks.
now this one really threw me off. At first glance I thought it would be over-orchestrated disco. I took a chance on it being from 1982 and on a private San Francisco label. WOW was I surprised. All-around DOPE boogie & funk. Slapbass, handclaps, congo breaks...good stuff.
cornell campbell - have mercy on jah (weed beat) Desmond Dekker - Wiseman (Beverleys) John Holt - Wasted Days (weed beat) Jackie Mittoo - Death Trap (weed beat) Johnny Clarke - Time Will Tell (weed beat) bobby ellis - sweet meat (jaguar) gramacks - reggae down (A 3) Escorts - in loving memories (wirl) Solomonic Reggae - Solidarity (Solomonic) Bunny Wailer - Falling ANgel (Solomonic) the "roots" - mash down (Grass Roots) Sons of Brave - Rockers (Crystal) The Revolutionaries - I.R.A. (Well Charge) J. Ayes - Rightous Man Satta (Well Charge) Trinity - School Days (Well Charge) The Fugitives - Stranger And Patsy (Gay Feet) The Royals - Peace and love (Wambesi)
today i snuck into a dead guys basement (long story) to look at a basement full of classical and not find anything. but he did have a pretty ill collection of owl pictures, drawings and paintings, about twenty arranged in a shelving unit and right in the middle was this one, which was great:
elsewhere i picked up g rap's dead or alive and margie joseph's phase 2
crink how much did that quartermass set you back? i think i need that in my life.
Found a record by "Cedrick 'Em' Brooks," a split 12", that I don't believe is the same as Cedric "Im" Brooks, but I suppose I could be wrong. Too new. My portable turntable is not good enough to let me tell a difference.

I noticed the cover and checked to see if it was a re-ish and the price tag. ::adrenaline rush:: I woulda snatched it out of dude's stack and said, "Sorry man, you're just gonna have to find this somewhere else" if I didn't already have a copy.
i don't see you drewn as the kind of guy that would pull cold blooded moves like that.
indeed. It's by far the best album I own made with balloons, gongs, adhesive tape, and an oscillator. I'm now amped to "collect 'em all", but I'm thinking this is not feasible on a budget.

was that directed at me corkscrew? sorry we couldn't work out a trade, but my owls are really not in the best condition, if it makes you feel any better.
crink i want to collect em all as well and prices seem to have dropped off a little recently (a quartermass i slept on bidding on just went for $30!) of course, now they'll spike thanks to the soulstrut effect
have you guys heard his boosey and hawkes libraries? i'm curious.

You're right, but you know that feeling? Plus, I'm in there everyday and things like that so rarely turn up there, so I kind of had that territorial thing going on. It's anyone's ballgame, though - so good for him... for me,

I am big into albums made with a monophonic synthesizer, timpani drum set, bubble gum, wind chimes, bike wheels, mbira, flugelhorn, ghost cymbals, and 6 kinds of bells.

A whole 10 bucks. I'd help you out, but it is now crucial to my life-force.
the one that isn't early bald electronica is an 80's press of the last Big Star lp. It's excellent!

that record is pretty dope, haven't listened to it in a grip though. Is it valuable??
"bald heads know the deal"...
Dockstader is some truly amazing stuff.
He has a great "pure" electronic album on folkways.
I wish I had some og owl label stuff.
I believe our own "118 pounds of fury" sold one for 300 bucks, no?
