Now I know better than to think This ROLL BOUNCE movie will have a deep selectionof songs.I've read some of the previews, and all the songs they,ve mentioned are easy/recognizable/wedding/disco/jukebox/fastfood/radio hits. They had to go that direction(gotta sell tickets). If you were that musical director for this flick...............Name a couple of songs from the Rollerskating era that you could implement without going over the head of the audience. Vaughn Mason is just too obvious but you could play it for the end credits. Trikeration is hot but too obscure and local/regional.The movie takes place in the late 70's so no 80's bangers are allowed.I'll drop 7 songs later.............I'm at work.

This one really gets to me, especially because the original brings me back to a special time in my life, but, for whatever reason, the soundtrack coordinator thought it would be more appropriate to play a post-2000 version for his 1970s movie.
So you see........half remakes half real joints.
I read that the score has Barracuda by Heart.
Show You The Way To GO - The Jacksons
When Your're In The Need of Love - Raydio
Grooveline - Heatwave
Theme from S.W.A.T. - Rhythm Heritage
Erucu - Mahogany SDTK
Contusion - Stevie Wonder
looks like a modern soundtrack to me....a bit better selection than most.
'superman Lover' is not exactly getting play all over the wedding circuit theses days! And Get Off is always welcome!
That new EWF ballad, which is also featured on their new album ("Illumination" - released earlier this week - some good cuts on this one!), is mellow soul niceness...very reminiscent of their classic late 70's recordings.
SG
...on second thought, I dodn't think those lyrics are too tween friendly.
OK, off the top of my head without access to my records:
"Backstroke" - Fatback Band
"Do It Any Way You Wanna" - People's Choice
"Get Down Tonight" - KC & the Sunshine Band (Yeah it is corny now but was dope at the time.)
"Soft and Wet" - Prince
"Ffun" - ConFunkShun
"Slide" - Slave
"Livin' It Up (Friday Night)" - Bell and James
"Movin'" - Brass Construction
"Get Down" - Gene Chandler
Look, I need you to step off already. You don't know what's behind this, so please...
heart!!!!!!!
I used to go to a camp in Littlestown Pennsylvania outside of Gettysburg.
We would go skating at a local rink. The music was provided by an organ player. Crazy behind the times.
But when they played Rapper's Delight all the Baltimore/NYC kids lost it.
"........chicken tastes like wood." Oh yeah and this was '83
What's the score/sdtk to this sound like?
I have seen this joint since HBO '79.
'Cause the movie is based in the late 70's.
BRS-VMand crew is 1980.
Revisionist history is annoying.
True but at the same time I don't think that this movie is even close to being on point as far as a direct represeentation of 70s roller skating... I mean who is it Bow Wow? Right there is more of an issue than necessarily tracks not specifically from the 70s...
In any event this movie overall is a low priority in my little to no movie seeing schedule.
And I am probably thinking about this too much. I am bored at work!
Cosign.
I dont want to see cats with big afros skatin' to Jheri-curl soul.
Dude on the far left is another light skinned dude with an afro who can't grow facial hair properly. Finally someone i can relate with.

I just want to say that in no way is this song ghey...
bad call
Train wreck, schreckenberry, Humboldt County tween
Yaddaddadig, Yaddaddamean?
is that the group Change?
As far a accuracy goes this isn't exactly a film that I think would stand the test of time as a historical document.
File this on the wall next to Mario Van Peebles "Panther" and just try to enjoy it instead of study it
I'm just curious about the tracks. I always felt rollerskating d.j. had to tailor their choices differently from regular dance djs. The rollerdisco "sound"
is a sub-genre that I appreciate.
