CD WRITING PROBLEM - DISTORTION

Thought I'd run this problem on here, see if anyone can help. When I've burned CDs the past few times, I get crackle/distortion upon playback after burning. And this is not present in the files before I burn. I've tried downloading different burning software, using different brand of CD-Rs, downloading a new updated audio driver.... what could be doing this? I'm thinking maybe my CD writer is perhaps just corrupt now or something. Any thoughts?

    What speed are you burning it at? Sometimes if you burn it too fast, it will create some distortion and static.

    Do you have any kind of gain/eq etc controls on your system? Sometimes different CD's are at different levels so you may just be peaking out????? Try lowering the recording level if you can.

    try reinstalling your burning software and defrag your hard drive, are you using a different bradn of cd-r's than before?
