OK I used to have this one CD with excerpts from Aida, and there was this one track that was really nice, and I listened to it all the time, but then somebody stole all my cds (this was wayyyy back when I was in the army), and now I don't know what act, scene, or anything that it was. and for some reason I can seem to find it. So here is the description. It was slow, and very melodic, and the melody may have even been a tad "egyptian" sounding... it was really pretty...if ANYBODY can help me out i would appreciate it a lot!!!!!

oddly enough, when i looked at it a second ago... so did i!

  • I dunno man... I'm just not feeling opera like I was in 1871. And I don't think I'm the only person on this site who feels this way.

  • I thought this post was about Oprah. Damn.

  • I may be in the minority here, but I think O (the mag) has been as strong as ever. The book reviews are so on point right now, and don't even get me started about the relationship tips. Just amazing. How G*ry can hate on this groundbreaking publication strikes me as a desperate plea for attention, which is kind of pathetic.

  • hahahahahahahahaha

  • Its a chick singing, and it might have a plucked instrument, like a harp or something.... and its slow.

I love Allison Krauss' new album too. Union Station have really honed their chops on LONELY RUNS BOTH WAYS and it's only fitting that O gave it 4 stars in the May 2005 issue. You should order the back issue just to read it. Just joking - I know you have a subscription!

I saw Aida at the MET just a couple of years ago. The music is not as memorable as other operas, but it is one of the most elaborate stagings in the game...massive Egyptian sculptures, teams of live horses on stage, etc...the whole thing is an absolute spectacle.

    Was it THIS ONE?

Or maybe THIS ONE? (with my man Caruso!)
