I've listened to this lady's albums for as long as I can remember...my mom was always playing her albums in her store when I was a kid.

I havent' listened to much of her stuff lately though, and I just broke out an album I bought for sentimental reasons a while back and I'm just remembering all the happy feelings her voice used to bring.

My mom is the biggest Joan Armatrading fan I have ever heard of, so I heard all of her old LP's as a kid. Didn't do much for me then, but when I hear her now I have a lot of pleasant childhood memories associated with her voice. Mom just saw her perform a week or two ago at the Apollo in Harlem and said she is still in fine form.

I didnt grow up on her but all my BlackRock sisters always big her up.
When Tracy Chapman blew up, J.Armatrading was usually referenced.

Get outta here with that Babysitter Rock. One thing I'll say is, if there's lots of Joan clogging up the crates, chances are there's some decent shit not far behind. In this respect she is better than Chapman or Matthis.
