Yo diggers, I need your help.

I'm looking for a track that might be by Zapp or Roger Troutman, possibly called Batman, or maybe it's part of the Batman OST. I can't find any trace of it.

A friend told me about it, and I promised to track it down. Any leads?

The Real TOUPT is back with Batman vibes.

Thanks in advance.

  • It would be a truly insane mistake to make but you're not confusing this for Prince "Batdance" right??

    And welcome back TOUPT

Only insane if you are a gen X American. To anybody else from around the world, who knows. Bat dance was also my first thought.  I remember reading somewhere once that prince really wanted to play Batman and was hurt that he didn’t get offered the part. Or something like that.

I can't imagine Prince playing Batman. Plus Michael Keaton is arguably the best Batman.

I was thinking he would have made a better Catwoman on account of his flexibility, but then I thought - Catman.  He'd be a great Catman!

This might be AI hallucinating because I can't find anything about it on Discogs, but ChatGPT claims:

Yes! Roger Troutman and Zapp are indeed linked to the Batman (1989) movie soundtrack. The song "Electro Boogie," which was performed by Zapp, was included in the extended soundtrack for Batman.

Best scene in Birdman was Edward Norton’s character telling Keaton that he’s yesterday’s-man, and then a gaggle of fans approach Keaton for Birdman autographs and selfies.

ChatGPT is always so confidently wrong. When I asked it said electro boogie was by prince and that the only connection to zapp is that they are both electronic and funky

Current gig is into using AI for meeting summaries and reporting etc.  I do wonder the value in it all, when AI generates the reports and folks are asking AI to summarise it.  It's the fucking Human Centipede of information.

It's not utterly useless.  For example, I am shedding "Stella By Starlight" (but not so anyone would notice) and I asked it about reharmonising it based on George Russell's Lydian harmony approach - don't worry, I'll still sound shit - It got it right and didn't use the Formula One racing driver.  But then it's suggested melodic approaches and tells me G is the fifth fret on an E string.

It accepted my suggestion it was on crack and apologised but this is like a universal fact.  When people are relying on it for billion pound enterprise system advice, ....

    "Just smile and wave, boys."

What does it say about January 6th/Trump never lost etc?

Why isn't there any more chat about the Copper-coloured clown than this here?

It's a low point in US politics and I suspect we're nowhere near done getting lower.  It's the theft of a nation being done in plain sight and being justified by the techbros behind it "Because helping people isn't profitable, every man for himself."

These guys will not save you; they will sell you.

Fascism in the Whitehouse. It’s a little scary and also depressing so I try to avoid the grim details myself.

Generally isn't much politics talk from US strutteurs these days.  All these years of Trump must have been exhausting.

Yeah, just a little scary! The job losses, but also the ways these institutions are being scaled back/torn down - the impacts of those changes are going to be more random, but there certainly will be a lot of blowback over time. Not to mention the ways the "government" can manipulate the population by taking control of the leftovers/remnants.

Back to Le Toupt’s original question I think you should ask the person who told you about this in the first place.

Also my family and I are talking a trip to Europe in 18 days. London, Brussels, Bruges, and Paris. I know it’s too much for just over a week but I wanted them to experience as much magic and beauty as possible for spring break.

Le axel toupt if you are in Paris we should have a drink. Maybe I could even bring a breakbeat fast and raer. You are a legend, after all.

I personally can only talk about that shit in so many areas of my life. Many personally painful links to the shit going down. But when it comes to discussing, it feels more productive to think of things in a wider lens perspective now, waves of history, rather than the day-to-day kleptocracy meltdown circus. What comes next seems like the more interesting question - can we pull a new, less fucked society out of disaster? How hard does disaster have to hit? But you can only take that kind of theorizing so far and the daily outrages don't particularly inform those questions, so it also serves as a limiter to the mental damage I can deal to myself.

I’m a federal employee. Have been for 20 years. I love my job and I’m awesome at it (which I should be after 20 years).

So let me have this thread where I can celebrate the return of the real le toupt and zapp Batman songs that probably don’t exist. Don’t drag those other bastards into it!
