Unreleased studio material or alternate takes from Doing Their Own Thing (1970) and Funky Music Machine (1972) occasionally surface. For example, extended jams of "Funky Women" or "Southwick" have been mentioned in collector circles. Tape traders and forums occasionally reference a "lost" 15-minute version of "Funky Music Machine" with a drum solo by Melvin Parker.

Who knows more drop us a line...

    Definitely heard whispers about that 15-minute “Funky Music Machine” cut—would love to hear Melvin’s full solo. Some collectors of JB tour tapes might have leads. Count me in if anything surfaces!
