I don't think Quest is sell out. He is however very nerdy bordering on cringe worthy. That havin been said he has been involved in some amazing musical moments as a drummer. Him as a DJ is not my thing. He came to Sydney and we all went expecting this crate diggin journey of deep funk ect ( this was the mid 2000s). Instead we got this hip hop history lesson ala " this is tribe called quest) and he proceeded to play five ATCQ songs in a row, then five De La Soul songs in a row, it was a total snooze fest.
