It's pretty mindblowing to think of as a find, but I don't know if it'll lead to a good conclusion (i.e. the tapes being saved somewhere they'll actually be saved while being reissued or something... made available for free? I don't know how the copyrights stand).

It seems like the money it'd take to do much of anything with such a volume of music is more than anyone will make on reissuing the most popular bits. I guess it has to be an institution that isn't looking to profit that'd be best equipped to deal with this priceless stuff.

In the wake of the Universal fire losses finally being made public I hope yer man has some sense not to store it any longer in an easily-broken-in-to garage that's probably already doxable.
