Country Records in NYC

Hi all, long time. I used to post (infrequently) under the handle 'spoonietee', am back again with yet another query and still nothing to contribute. I moved to Brooklyn recently--where do I go for country music, entry-level chud classics and beyond? I've been to Norman's, the Academy's in Greenpoint and the East Village, A-1, some other spots. 

PS I feel like there is a heavy strut-presence out here--is that true?
