Good lord. A million shades of wrongitude, but eventually the edifice is mighty.
Shot in a lock-up in Houston, background added later from stock footage at the local Polaroid processing outlet.
Dude necked an E before the shoot, his jaw is all over the place.
Chick is Marlene from Only Fools And Horses in blackface.

I can't watch it at work ("Banned In Your Region, Klaus!") yet I already feel any shits and/or giggles it actually generates would fall way short of the lofty inner guffawing the above prose alone has generated.

Talmbout lemon tea out of the nose whilst trying to play it cool.

    For this I thank you.

Hah I just discovered this the other day as well.
So many shades of wrongness, but then the track is so good, all is forgiven.

Chick is Siedah Garrett, though. I figure she's earned enough respect to be forgiven for being in a silly vid.

Sorry Batmon... but this was not on MTV back in the day... was it? Because I'm a certified early 80s MTV head. The only "R&B" type isht I remember was "Billie Jean".

  • Don't remember this tacky video, but I certainly recall the song. Entered the charts that spring, and was seemingly blaring from everybody's backyard, open window and basketball court that summer.

I've had that vid on my youtube favs since right before summer. I love how he's chewing gum in it like he's saying "this is how players do it."

Quality video, looks like they busted into the local cable access studio to shoot it. Dennis should have scheduled his root canal for after the shoot, he's obviously still having problems feeling his jaw.

I was going to say, MJ and Prince were the only Black artists to break into MTV back then.
MJ was pop, Prince was rock. No R&B allowed.
