new to me

"Timid and shy, with an innate skill for "kicking but". From the back woods of "Sippy" (Mississippi), Emma moves amoungst family to the big city of Los Angeles ,where she encounters a culture shock.........

(indepenent movie with conflicting dates of 1974 -1976, .....excuse the quality)

This movie will get bad reviews by critics, but as a African American, I have different and less formal perspective. Through the eyes of young black adults you get a view of black life of 1974 Compton, CA, and unclouded by Hollywood.

Profound concepts are also covered in a subtle manor. For example, the character "Big Dad" (older guy in AfroCentric gear) gives the young folks a crash course in the true dynamics of society and the forces behind the curtain that controll it............unfortunately he still encourages them to continue with their criminal plot.

Written by Jamma Fanaka, who was a integral part of the "Los Angeles School of Black Filmmakers", or the UCLA Rebellion, (young African and African-American filmmakers who studied at the UCLA Film School in the late-1960s to the late-1980s) . They sought an alternative to Hollywood."
