Me and the missus were having a conversation over coffee. We were talking about songs that were overplayed on the radio that drove us to hate them. That lead me to think of what are the top songs that were decent that you can't stand because they played constantly on the radio. So, here is my list (in no particular order):
1. "Breezin'"-George Benson.
2. "Friends and Strangers"-Ronnie Laws.
3. "Easy"-The Commodores.
4. "The Heart of Rock and Roll"-Huey Lewis and the News.
5. "Shame"-Evelyn 'Champagne' King.
6. "Mister Magic"-Grover Washington, Jr.
7. "Good Times"-Chic.
8. "I Just Wanna Stop"-Gino Vanelli.
9. "Baby Come Back"-Player.
10. "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now"-Jefferson Starship.

Most of my top 40 listening was in the 70s and early 80s. Also I had to listen to lots of country radio.
So many songs I hated the first time I heard them, like Na Na Goodbye.
If a song is good perhaps radio made me hate it then, but I have learned to like it again all these years later, ie Everyday People.
What I really got a hate is certain artists.

Leo Sayer!
Billy Joel
Elton John (loved the first song I heard by him Picking Friends, and thought he was ok for a number of years, but radio...)

In fairness, not just Stabcunts but also Pret A Manger and EAT too.
I'm standing there queuing for grande latte, and Jive Samba or Coltrane 'Favourite Things' comes on,
And there I am watching some thousand-year-old-soul hatchet faced misery with hair scraped back into gamine Estonian facelift, totally oblivious to the Willis Jackson funky swing, and the muhfuckin song is RUINED in perpetuity, rendered permanently sullied by association for ever more with a cocoa-scented Clown-tinged taint of corporate banality.
What to do?
Boycott these palaces of sub-par coffee? Nah, I likes it too much.
No, better to seek vengeance upon the candyasses behind the scenes, 'designing ergonomic aural soundscapes' to lull me into handing over a few more shekels for the brownie or macaroon. Yes I'm looking at dude like YOU mr FlowMotion with your fancy urban music ambient vending experiences and your key harmonic selling factors - no diss though
