Zachary Swanson's housemates are accused of trying to carve and burn the tattoo off his arm because he 'disrespected' the hip-hop group
A man had his arm amputated after his housemates allegedly tried to remove his tattoo in a row over hip hop group the Insane Clown Posse.
Zachary Swanson, 31, arm was amputated below the elbow following the Monday morning attack, when his housemates are said to have tried to cut the tattoo away from his skin using knives before setting it on fire.
Paul Martin Hurst and Cary Lee Edwards now face charges including first degree attempted murder, according to delmarvanow.com.
Police say they believe all three men. from Hebron, Maryland, are linked with the Juggalos - a cult fan following of the Insane Clown Posse.
Court documents suggest Edwards tried to remove Swanson's tattoo because he "did not believe that [he] had earned" it, and that Swanson had shown disrespect to the Insane Clown Posse.
County Sheriff Mike Lewis said: "To them, he had to pay the consequences."
He added: "I can't imagine the pain that the victim went through."
It's thought Hurst and Edwards may also have taken issue with the way Swanson had treated his girlfriend.
As well as being cut and burned, Swanson was badly beaten and remains in a critical condition with a brain bleed, swollen eyes, 11 broken ribs and lacerated liver.
Hurst and Edwards have been remanded in custody.
