It's weird to me because on the internet, you say something different and people automatically assume it came from a website or tv that they just haven't checked for and expect you to provide a link. It's like the concept of experiencing things first hand and formulating opinions off of those real things is completely lost on an entire generation or so of people.
Well, for the record, I was actually kinda trying to throw you a rope when I implied that you might have inherited these opinions from tv. That seemed preferable to just letting stand the idea that a smart guy like you is sincerely invested in such two-dimensional chauvinist bullshit.

    But, I mean, stuff like
As if the women accountants currently in my office aren't constantly blabbing away just like the secretaries of yore...
and your cockeyed idea that the long-romanticized image of men as hard-drinking porn-perusers somehow offsets the long-demonized image of women as chattering "top 40" drones?

Oh gawd. There's nothing I can't stand more than people insisting on living in some this-is-what-we'd-like-the-future-to-be-like state of make-believe when addressing the present/past.

I guess I'm supposed to ignore or just never mention that the women in my office pretty much still fit the stereotype. Why? Because it's not true? Or because it might hurt the feelings of some emo dude 8 states away?

Gotdamn, y'all have gone as soft as ever. And right now, I'm not even aligning hardness as a specific male trait. I know plenty of hard-as-fuck women too. But it's fucking lame as it gets to be so sensitive to any little thing said or any little joke made...and especially to respond to it with some rote holier-than-thou, confederacy-of-wimps crowd pleaser.

I don't give 2 shits. I'll be the last man standing if I have to be. I've taken my shots over the years, plenty in fact...and other people need to remember how to take theirs as well.

i've kicked it with aschrock many times in the real world and can report he is a certified O.G. on his style game.

    peace, stein. . .

Thanks! Haven't seen ya much since I moved away from 10th st :(

Nate had to post to Facebook to tell me to look on soulstrut. It's been like 4+ years so my login was connected to an email address I lost the domain to.

Soulstrut had turned into this group of people I'm connected to on Facebook that I would forget why I'm friends with them until they started making in-jokes on wall posts.

It's really great this place is still going. Appreciate the clon and got a kick out of this thread.

    HI!!

Never having met the dude, and based strictly on appearances, he responded pretty much the way I expected. Class indeed.
