edit: he will be missed. in addition to the many wonderful characters he created he was also the head writer of SCTV. "Groundhog's Day" is an unmitigated triumph.

    I broke the news of Ramis' passing to a lady I work with who lives in Woodstock, Illinois, where they filmed Groundhog Day and a topic that remains Groundhogianly hot in Woodstock to this day - the B&B in town recently went up for sale for $1 million. My coworker literally shrieked when she heard. It's pretty amazing when you think about it - that one movie changed everyone's perception of that minor holiday - it's not so much about if winter is going to stick around anymore but something that can happen over and over. Ramis did so much good work but I wish he could have had one more classique in his oeuvre. RIP.

    yes, i am wrong he is not canadian. i grew up on SCTV, a canadian show, so I always just assumed...
