Kill The Trumpet Player

Don Cheadle Starring/Directing

Herbie Hancock executive producer/musical director

Zoe Saldana as his first wife Francis.

I'm not crazy about the idea of the star also directing, but who knows?

Predictions?

I'm not sure why it's focusing on his retreat from music in the late 70s, to me that may be the least interesting part of his life.

A Miles Davis biopic where the white Rolling Stone reporter somehow gets second billing? Assuming this thing ever makes it out of development hell (music biopics are to actors as rapping is to athletes), I predict Bird (aka When Rodney Met Chan) all over again.

    No thanks.

I like that they are not trying to tell his whole life story.
The more narrow the focus the more potential for a good film.
What we can hope for is a good dramatic movie that happens to be based on Miles Davis' life.

    Prediction - never gets made.
