Hey guys, i was at this record store recently where i checked out a record by some 70s doo wop/acapella soul band. It was nothing facemelting or super special but i definatly felt like there were some good parts to sample on there. Problem was the guy wanted silly money for it and it didnt look all that rare so i passed on it and forgot to write down the name of the band.
Any ideas? It was all completly acapella stuff.
I know i m a cheap MF.

Thanks in advance

d.

No, its not them. But a male group as well.

Yeah, this is who I was about to suggest. One or two of their earlier joints used to be fairly easy to find for cheap, like Street Corner Symphony, but I guess some may be a harder/pricier catch than others.

The Hi-Lo's? Singers Unlimited, perhaps? They did some joints for MPS.

I would say Take 6, maybe, but they're almost certainly way too current to pass for a 70s act.

Not only that, but the Hi-Los and Singers Unlimited are too jazzy to be called "doo-wop." Not soulish, either.

My guess would be the Royal Counts, who had a soul acapella album on Relic? However, their LP dated from the mid-sixties.

I would love to help. There are a few I can think of.

So you saw it at a store and listened to it. That's a good start.
Now give us something to go on.
What did the cover look like?
Was it on a major label? Which one?
    What city was it from?
completely acapella? No instrumental back up at all?
What did the cover look like?
Were they doing originals or covers?
