Best soul/funk/jazz record shops in NYC

Hi,

I am going to NY for the first time in May and want to take the opportunity to stock up on vinyl. Can anyone recommend some stores that sell soul, funk and jazz vinyl?

    many have closed in the past year. nowadays it's really just three shops in Manhattan with a good variety of soul/funk, and that's my shop Good Records, Academy LPs, and A-1. All of these should be easily found in the city guide section.

    If you want shops in Brooklyn, there are a few, and some private dealers on these boards that might be willing to set up appointments.

    If you're into 12"s, the Academy in Williamsburg (my store) probably has the largest selection going in NYC right now.

    Gimme Gimme and Tropicalia In Furs both closed recently (moved to LA).
