    They're pretty obsessed with gold in India. They're the largest importer of gold, so much so that even effects the countries deficit.

    On the other end of the scale there's the enterprising people, featured in this recent BBC documentary, who go out at night and dredge up the drains outside the gold shops, to then sell the dirt for processing.



    There's 3 episode in all, each about an hour long and all worth watching.

    Apart from the son of the owner of the gold panning shop, who was a lazy sob, everyone featured in that docu seemed pretty amazing. People with very little and seemingly the whole world stacked against them, dreaming big and making something out of nothing.
