Popping & Locking Battle Music

For awhile now, it seems like every battle I go to or watch online they rarely play funk or boogie anymore. It's all these derivative slow g-funk type beats. The only explanation I can find is that since they film the battles & sell the footage, it's cheaper for them to license these beats than it is to get the rights for the original funk & boogie. Any ideas? Anyone here dj at any of these?

    I assumed that may be the case for some, but there are plenty of others who should clearly know better.
