I got two long ass lists - one for LPs EPs and tapes and another for songs...can I put them up here or is this the one of each only thread?

  • Gotta go with Frank Ocean, closely followed by Tame Impala and Kendrick Lamar.

  • Not sure my most-listened to albums and singles of 2012 are particularly Strut-friendly, but here goes...

    Albums:
    John Talabot "Fin"
    Grizzly Bear "Shields"
    Actress "RIP"
    Legowelt "The Paranormal Soul"
    Lindstrom "Smalhans"

    Singles:
    Todd Terje "It's The Arps"
    Pachanga Boys "Time"
    Jai Paul "Jasmine"
    Factory Floor "Two Different Ways"
    Andrew Ashong "Flowers"
    Protect-U "Motorbike"
    Hunee "Tide"
    Kindness "SEOD"
    Bullion "Say Arr Ee "

I wish we could all come up with our own lists in a vacuum. As an exhaustive reader of such things -- hey, it's been a slow week at work -- it's amazing how inevitably they all end up so similar. Still though, Frank Ocean. Partially due to the short run time of many of his songs, he's entered like all-time high status in plays on my three-year-old computer in iTunes. I've played "Sierra Leone," clocked in at 2:29, 41 times, good for No. 2 overall -- just off No. 1, Brian Eno's "Becalmed," which for self-explanatory reasons I've cued 47 times.

  • (the bridge kills on this--starts with the line "there's a sun in my sky...")

The Frank Ocean is for a different mood for me...but 100% yes, between Miguel and Jeremih's more carnal endeavours, the Jeremih by miles.

there are songs i enjoy on frank and miguel's albums but i find the jeremih to be a more even album.

Also - Jeremih's uncut/18+ video for Go To The Mo was one of my favourite videos of the year. Shame they felt like they had to stick a dude in at the end though.

Yea, I haven't seen that many, but it made an impression. NSFW, etc.

I really liked this one, too.

    This, too - PERFECT.
    Caviar & Piff.

  • Album - tame impala / lonerism Young dude is killing it, so talented on multiple counts

Single - burial - kindred any of the 3 tracks, mr incognito's best work yet for me

thanks for sharing, put me onto some new stuff :-)

  • One emcee for each letter of the alphabet four bars each over hard drums killed me this year on a great 10".

DJ Formats remix adding classic breaks for every letter of the alphabet along with the emcees did it again a great 12".

    Soundsci LP restored the faith.

Best track I heard this year was the board's very own Neil Sonething with a random promo 12 that had "Ain't No Mountain " under the title "Mr Marvin and Ms Tammi".

A euphoric feel good epic that builds to heart crunching crescendos and raises goosebumps on your lower arms. Magnificent shit.

Been too busy this year to keep up on all that is new and good, but the album that I've listened to the most in 2012 would be the soundtrack to the game "Fez" by Disasterpeace.

    http://disasterpeace.com/album/fez

Such a cohesive feel to it and really sets a special mood for the game (which is also great and recommended).

Lots of quality music being made for indie games the last couple of years (Bastion, Hotline Miami, Journey etc.).

Late Nights With Jeremih and the new Greg Foat Group album got a lot of burn too.

    my faves this year:

    ???Theo Parrish "Flowers"
???Kon's edit of Cerrone's "Hooked on You"
    ???Iron Galaxy "Attention Seeker"

His album only has 2 good songs on it IMO, but this is probably my favorite song of 2012...

And I've been hooked on both Goathead by Goat and Mind Mischief by Tame Impala in a big way as of late.

  • This record blindsided me-

Hotline Miami has one of the first videogame soundtracks that I genuinely enjoy listening to outside of the game. Those Sun Araw tracks are :face_melt:
