Hey everyone. Just wondering if people could make some good recommendations for this label. I have a few titles but still don't know what the real heat is. So far almost everything is good, but there must be standouts..

    awakening- hear sense and feel
    doug carn- revelation
    doug carn- adams apple

are the three most solid in my opinion.
most of the titles have some good songs/moments varying from serene to spiritual to occasional funk
    the covers are dope!

    Kellee Patterson ??? Maiden Voyage

The one that first got me into the label, so maybe it's a sentimental choice, but the title track is the best vocal version of the Herbie classic (IMHO).

i'm actually listening to Henry Franklin 'The Skipper' right now. Definitely recommended. I will listen to his other one 'The Skipper at Home' after and give my opinion, but I seem to recall it being a good one too.

Walter Bishop Jr 'Keeper of my Soul' is superb, probably my favourite on the label, and his other one 'Coral Keys' is great too. 'Keeper of my Soul' is much like Ramsey Lewis of the same period, 'Coral Keys' has some horns and is maybe a bit more later period style bop/souljazz.

The Awakening, as already mentioned, have 2 lp's, both recommended.

Co-sign on Kellee Patterson and Walter Bishop Jr.

I'm also big fan of Doug Carn's Infant Eyes. Moon Child is unfuckwithable.

Thanks. Just picked up the Henry Franklin joint. Pretty incredible. It's a bit beat up but I didn't have to pay that much. Anyone hear about the label being on craigslist? Was that true or bullshit?

True, and the thread here is a bit of a classic:

Rudolph Johnson could have been Wayne Shorter in disguise.

difficult to pick stand outs/essentials though. it's all consistently good, and at least half of it's very good. just get them all
