Just found this nice collection of cover art from german bands from the 70s:

http://rateyourmusic.com/lists/list_view?list_id=39186&show=100&start=0

A lot of nice weired krauty stuff included here.

Honestly speaking, I have never seen most of these records over here in Germany in the field, despite the fact that a lot of them were released on big ass labels (CBS, Decca, Hansa, Polydor etc.). It boggles my mind, that such weired stuff was released by such big companies in hope to make a profit.

I'm wondering where all the copies ended up. Maybe in the UK? Definetly not at the fleas and drifts around these parts.

To all the german fellow strutters: are they more common where you live?

I really never bothered to you through 45s on flea markets, because there is so much more trash than on 12". I guess when you take your time, you'll find many of those listed, but also 1001 James Last gems ;)

There is some real pron on Crippled Dick Hot Wax 45s, out of germany I think.

Picture disc of some dame being boned by a robot over a table.

Tried to put it on photo bucket but got Teh Ban.

Actually a lot less James Last on 45 than on Lp. He always was more of an album guy. Anyway, you are right, it can be a bit tiring and time consuming to go though boxes and boxes of garbage 45s on fleas. But I have the imprssion, that those 45 collections arn't as cherry picked as lp collections tend to be and I found several times ????????? heat in them in the past.
At bigger fleamarkets I don't bother with 45s either and I try to rush through all the Lp boxes instead.

    Offtopic:

The most common record I see EVEREYWHERE in EVERY crate I go through is this gem:

    http://www.discogs.com/Various-Ein-Bunter-Melodien-Strau??/release/2028989

Sometimes multiple copies of it in one crate. When I'm at fleas I put this record in front of the crates as a sign that I already checked them.
There must be more copies of this in circulation than all James Last records combined. I'm wondering a long time why it is so common.
I can't believe that this record was selling in the millions on the strength and popularity of the Stabsmusikkorps d. Bundeswehr or the other cheescakes included on the record.

    German strutters

Is this record as common in your area?
Was it given out for free, sent to every household back then, ore something like that?

Please help me to solve that mystery.

Never seen that "Bunter Strauss" record, but seen a few of the 45's (and also copped some). But they are definitely NOT common. Thanks for the link though. There is just too much on 45 that is really rare these days...like this one...local band from my area...

I keep seeing this on the regular but not far as much as you describe. There's a lot of other stuff I see more often e.g. some Benefiz-Schlager-Compilation for Aktion Sorgenkind or the Red Cross or likewise. I just can't remember the name. Here in the east I see completely different records than when I formerly lived in the old west.

Incredible how often this turns up.
