Great thread. Half of the posted tracks belong to my all-time favorite DJing tools. Still I really don't see why these qualify as Disco-Jazz vs. Jazz-Funk and at the same time I really don't care for these sub-sub-genre categorization. Great music.
War - Flying Machine
The 1979 version of "The World Is A Ghetto" from "The Music Band" is also a great Disco-Jazz track by War.

you're talking about War -The World Is A Ghetto (Special US Disco Mix) 12", which was comped by dj Spinna, don't you?
Flying machine is great annd sounds like proto broken beat to me.

Didn't know about a Disco Mix, neiter about some Spinna comp. I meant this cheap and easy to get LP:

Basically this seems to be the LP version with some parts edited out. I remember to have always blended out of the track after 3 1/2 minutes so I figure there were some ugly parts that made me do it. These parts seem to have gone. If there was a 12" with that version I would buy it.
