Not talking about Fusion, or Jazz-Funk...but straight up Disco Jazz.

    Kind of obvious, although I'm not sure whether it's quite disco enough...



    Maybe some of the Michael White & Wayne Henderson stuff? Or perhaps this strays too close to fusion?

    Completely unrelated, but I'd love to hear someone like Midlake or Fleet Foxes do an acoustic guitars and harmonies version of that Herbie joint. I keep hearing it in my head and I need someone to make it real.

    I don't wanna take this too far afield, but I think this qualifies as a disco jazz record, although many would probably disagree:

    Joe Claussell's cut all the fat off the Strainhard original here and given it more of a genuine disco-jazz vibe, even if it isn't a strictly authentic one.

    his last few records produced by Bunny Siegler had some disco heaters/turds on them...but this clip has him killing it in a disco mode.
