Like a lot of guys who got into old records through hip-hop I went searching for samples and ended up learning about a whole new world of old songs. Back in the day I bought a comp called "Pete's Treats" and got my eyes opened to a whole lot of songs and groups I never heard of before (Eugene McDaniels, Backyard Heavies, etc)
Pete Rock had a lot of good taste but my favorite track I learned about while searching for the break was Eddie Bo's "From This Day On".
