    Love 'em both but for me it's the Parliament version by a long, long way.

    There are so many incredible touches in the later recording: the bassline (one of my favorites; I love the way it intertwines with the piano), the spectral backing vocals, the bridge where all the instruments fall back, etc. etc. Plus the main vocal just gets so much closer to the spirit of that weird, warped lyric.
