    Akimbo. Without looking up the definition, I always remember it as describing the state of your arm when you put your hand on your hip, crooking you elbow out to the side. It may have further meaning, though. It would be weird to have a word just for that.

    I've only ever heard it used to refer to legs. "Legs akimbo" meaning legs spread, usually directed at a woman, with obvious sexual connotations.

    That word crossed my tracks 3 times last Sunday.

    I had always thought akimbo was a West African Word. That wiki entry suggests otherwise.
    First I had heard it applied to legs.
