On my last trip to Uruguay I picked up this private press from "Dana Romance". I saw she was backed on piano by Whashington Quintas Moreno, maybe the greatest uruguayan jazz player. From the liner notes "Dana Romance is european, a refined woman, a diplomatic's ex-wife...". What?I could only imagine the lady getting up one morning saying: I feel like making a record today.The style is some kind of latin, bolero, jazzy thing.     Its funny, they used to call private issue or press records, vanity records. Thats probably closer to what they were. I was showing my mom some privates a few years ago, and she sonned me on the name. I think some stores still have sections called "vanity."
