Thailand Underwater

A pretty huge % of Thailand is underwater.

These photos are pretty shocking... Bangkok has a population of about 14 million.

I've been to Thailand 3 times (Last being in May) and I've just heard from some of my friends that are from Bangkok. One friend is staying with family cause her place is underwater. I'm in the process of sending her some stuff.

There was some pretty crazy flooding before I went in May, but it's supposedly really bad now.

My friend was telling me that most people are so use to stuff like this, that they just go around like a normal day.

I can't image dealing with that shit.

Thanks for sharing these photo blogs. Some of the photos make my heart ache for the people, and some of them make me enjoy their fuck-it-let's-just-deal attitude. That guy smoking is badass.

I think the radio said that the government thought they could do flood control but starting yesterday had to open up gates and let the canals and rivers flood for a while.

Delay

It's a yearly event that these floods occur. Obviously not as extreme, but still expected. This may account for a lot of the nonchalantness seen in these photos. For part of the year, many of the rivers in Cambodia and Thailand actually run backwards.
