One of my favorite songs is Tim Maia's "Imuniza????o Racional",

I've translated the lyrics through google, yahoo, etc., so I understand what the song is about,

but I'd like a more grammatically sensible translation,

I've played this song or burned it on cd's for a few people and everybody has come back to me about "that" song, because it's so darn beautiful.

So I'd like to be able to explain it a little more thoroughly.

if anyone could help, it would be great!

Here's a link to the lyrics:

    Hey BruceGeetz

Here's a free and quick translation I did of Maia's song for you.
Let me know if anything isn't clear and I'll try to explain to you.
Keep in mind that the lyrics are related to the Cultura Racional -
Universo em Desencanto (Rational Culture - Universe in Disenchantment)
cult he followed in the mid 70's.

    Rational Immunization

Uh! Uh! Uh! What a beauty!
Uh! Uh! Uh! What a beauty!
What a beauty is to feel the nature
To be sure to where (you) go
    And from where (you) come
What a beauty is to come from the purity
    And without fear distinguish
    The evil and the good...

Uh! Uh! Uh! What a beauty!
Uh! Uh! Uh! What a beauty!
What a beauty is to know your name
    Your origin, your past
    And your future
What a beauty is to know
    The Disenchantment
And to see way more clear
    In the dark...

Uh! Uh! Uh! What a beauty!
Uh! Uh! Uh! What a beauty!
    Open the door
    And enter
    Happyness will
    Shine in the world
What a beauty! What a beauty!

Uh! Uh! Uh! What a beauty!
Uh! Uh! Uh! What a beauty!

    Peace

  • Thanks a lot Moogman.

Yeah, I know the song is from his time with the cult.

I remember reading that this song is the only one that got radio play, due to there being less references to the cult. And it has a somewhat universal theme.

    You're welcome, Bruce.
