Assuming Beatsoup was being serious, yeah, they are similar insofar as the Florida Spiritualaires covered the Intruders.
Rich: The Impressions' catalog was quite popular in gospel circles (esp. since their songs were already gospel-influenced). "People Get Ready" in particular, shows up a lot though if you wanted something closer to "I Remember When" you want more of a midtempo, crossover tune.
Here's a long time personal favorite that might be up that alley:
Gospel Clouds on Century (Crossover Gospel Soul)
Gospel Truth (Ohio) (Good Crossover Gospel Soul)
The Gospel Crusaders on HSE (They cover "Get Ready" By The Impressions)
Love Of God Singers (VA) (They Cover "In The Rain" by The Dramatics)
Check www.hollygroverecords.com for more sounds Rich. I'll post some more titles soon.
A youtube I uploaded, but I misspelled the artist's name and then they changed the log-in to coincide with your google account and I cant log into it to correct it
Clarence Smith 'whatever Happened To Love" (Gospel Truth, Stax Gospel Label) (First 2 tracks kill on this)
I can't hang with this LP, apart from that first track (I think) the one that was comped by Soul Jazz which I agree is strong, the rest of this LP sucks.

I would try the Intruders and then report to the answer song thread.

I really dig when a gospel group takes a secular hit and co-opts it for Jesus.
The Heavenly Band "Hello Sunshine" (Private Ohio thing, lead singer sounds like Donny Hathaway!!!)
The God Squad (Boston MA) - (One-Way)This sounds like a straight up soul lp from 74.
The Christian Voices 'One Step" (Raer lp out of FL)
The Holy Disciples 'My Soul Needs Resting" (Raer Chicago release, great stuff)
The Soul Stirrers 'The Judgement" (Checker from 69, amazing lp front to back)
Nat Townsley "I fell In Love With God" (Peacock, super easy to find and awesome)
The Matthew Sisters 'Edwin Hwakins Presents...."
Clarence Smith 'whatever Happened To Love" (Gospel Truth, Stax Gospel Label) (First 2 tracks kill on this)
The Greene Sisters "Whatevers Fair" (One side is trad, the other is amazingly funky gospel)
a couple from the Gospel Four
