so a long time customer of ours (who may be on this board... if so, i'm coming to chat with you when i'm out in NYC next month) initiated THREE chargebacks for approx 200$ last night. his claim is that it was an unauthorized use of his card. the thing is, we've always (for the past 3 years) used the same paypal confirmed address. twice we used his college address. of the three charges in question, two were the college addy, one was the home.now if this was an unauthorized use of his CC, then why is dude holding onto the records that were sent to his home? is fighting this a lost cause because we used his school addy?anyone trying to roll up on dude for us? he's in reading now, he'll be in philly next month.

Buy three registered letters to his address - insert those numbers into paypal's provide proof of mailing box, and voila. YOur out the cost of 3 registered letters, but not $200.

    K.

P.S. Put in a couple polaroids of human throats or a set of knees if you want.

  • K,
Sounds like a fun idea, but when paypal checks the tracking numbers won't it be suspicious that the date it lists the letter as being sent is after the chargeback was filed?

  • yo TREW,this cat is truly renigging big time, and realized he rent due.

Saying, I got burned on a $200+ chargeback, too. Appealed but no luck. Shit is ridiculous. Chock it up to experience, every big ticket item I ship now goes out with copious tracking and insurance.

Fuk a chargeback in 2005. You hear me, Paypal????[/b]

i'm leaning towards a beatdown. what's funny is that he IS on this board.. to try a scam like this on folks who 'know' each other is just plain stupid.

an IP check may help matters.

    Dear Kevin,

From time to time, a buyer who is not satisfied with merchandise they paid

for with a credit card through PayPal may file a chargeback with their

credit card company. We were recently notified that one of your buyers

filed a chargeback against a transaction with you.

As you may know, under certain circumstances credit card companies may hold

sellers liable for chargebacks unless they can prove they sufficiently

fulfilled the terms of the order. PayPal understands that chargebacks can

be frustrating and we're here to help you work through this situation. With

your cooperation, we will assist you in disputing this chargeback.

If you're not familiar with chargebacks, please visit our Resolution Center

and click the Learn about Chargebacks link.

In their chargeback claim, the buyer indicated that the purchase

represented possible unauthorized credit card use.

PayPal is investigating the buyer's claim and may dispute the chargeback

with the buyer's credit card company. Please help us resolve this case as

soon as possible by reviewing the Transaction Details and the What To Do

    Next sections described below.

Because the owner of the account has initiated a chargeback, we have placed

a temporary hold on the funds associated with this transaction until this

case is resolved. This action was taken in accordance with the terms of the

    PayPal User Agreement.

    What to Do Next

    -----------------------------------

It is PayPal's standard practice to dispute wrongful chargebacks. One of

the benefits of using PayPal is that our team of chargeback specialists

will gather the necessary information from you and work with the card

issuer until the chargeback is resolved.

The information you submit will be used by PayPal to evaluate whether to

    dispute this chargeback.

Log in to your PayPal account and click the Resolution Center tab

Click the Resolve button next to this chargeback case to see your options

process is subject to strict timelines. If you are unable to respond within

72 hours, we may be limited in the ways that we can dispute this

chargeback. After we receive and review any additional information, we can

determine if we can take any further action. While we need to you respond

quickly, a final decision about this chargeback may take up to 75 days.

    T,
If it is from March you should be cool. There a 45 day limit on disputes. Or is a 'chargeback' a whole other issue?

  • not likely I realize, but is it possible that someone's jacked his paypal acct and is trying to get that money hisself???

it is true calmer heads should be making decisions. i mean his little brother could have used his account and done all this we don't know.

it seems unlikely some dude on here would do this when he can be blackballed so easily.

anyways, does anyone know about the thing hcrink mentioned a while back how you refund his money and then you dispute the refund ?
