Sup folks, hoping to make a road trip through these two cities on Memorial Day Weekend.

Any suggestions on night life, food, and nature spots would be greatly appreciated!

Bunk sandwiches, Olympic Provisions, Ping, Downtown Farmers Market in Portland for food. Also Blue Olive.

In Portland there is Forest Park for nature, outside of Portland just drive East or West.

Folk Life Festival at the Seattle Center for music during the day.

Look me up if you need records.

Thanks Dan! I'll make sure to check those out if I get to Portland.

I am having second thoughts about a trip by car though....

PROS AND CONS for a road trip a opposed to plane trip??!!

You can do Seattle or Portland without a car.

Easier to get to nature in Portland without the car.

Seattle without a car is not so fun unless you stay downtown only.
Portland without a car is easy.

rent one at the airport and live it up
or go zip car cuz they are everywhere here.

food in Portland = Navarre .. do not sleep on this place
peep Hall of records on Belmont for records and beer
hit up the many food carts that are everywhere and worth a look.

Too bad you wont be in Seattle next weekend for the BIG DIG
its a great show and worth the trip.
    peace

If you take a plane up the Amtrak ride from Portland to Seattle is nice on a clear day. Tickets are like $35-$50 depending on what time of day you travel. Food recommendations in Seattle are as follows; hit up Salumi for a hot plate, Paseo for anything, and Monsoon for anything. Was up there last week, seems like the NW is having a late spring. Have fun.

My bike tour is open to any and all strutters. Highlights include Bruce/Brandon Lee grave, Kurt Cobain's house, Shawn Kemp's restaurant (haven't been yet, but come on!), and various bullshit Seattle landmarks (both genuine and imaginary). And, if you can ride mountain bikes, we can get as gully as you want on a half day dirt excursion.

GodDAMN I can't wait until I get my first customer for my Bike Tour!

Still hyped on Sichuan Cuisine on 12th and Jackson, and the taco bus on Rainier. We can hit those on bikes... Oh you know what rules?--brunch at the Corson Building. See if that's running.

There will still be a ton of snow in the mountains on Memorial Day though, come to think of it, so your nature styles should be water-based (THANK YOU BASED NATURE). Ferries, islands, etc.

    Hyped on Seattle!
