abandoned Yugoslavian monuments

    In 2004 I was part of a cultural exchange tour of Bosnia, Serbia and Macedonia as a DJ, and Kru??evo was one of the stops.

    It's a really rural spot in the mountains, fairly poor and old school, like entering a time warp back to the fifties. And right in the middle of fucking nowhere there's this monument park, totally out of context.

    We stumbled upon it by accident one day we were hiking. We couldn't believe our eyes. Looked like a UFO had just landed.

    Here's a (crap) photo of me in front of it. Shows a little more of the surroundings. Wish I had a better camera back then.



    The thing is, compared to most of those other monuments, it's not a solid sculpture, it's more like a building. There's a space/room inside. And as you might be able to tell from the photo, it's huge.

    My first thought was "killer spot for a party".
