    Hey,

I didn't lurk at all. Instead, I joined upon Asprin's and Tom Thumbz's (now Delay's) suggestions to move over from Stones Throw Records's "Crate Digger" forum.

    Peace,

    Big Stacks from Kakalak

I never lurked...I found out about Soul Strut From John Book talking about it on okayplayers the lesson forum.

Maybe a few months, but it's not like I made a mental note of it ("remember this valuable detail"). I didn't want to join before I was sure this forum was worth it. If today was six years ago, though, I'm not sure I'd join. :oof:

  • I lurked until I had to spring into action to defend my good friend dj sheep some years ago..

  • Moved over from Stones Throw board..lurked for a bit..got an i.d. then forgot my password.
Wasn't receiving the email reminder after about 10 attempts so I never posted for quite a while..finally reset the password and post occasionally.

    Hi friends,

I lurked back during Soulstrut 1.0 (if you consider the current forum makeover 3.0), around 2002? Ako's 1969 and untitled were floating around and not yet pressed by MPM. Danno was still in the middle of Waxing Deep.

I signed up last year and post infrequently. This is a great place to get hip on current affairs, music, movies, etc. I really should try to contribute more, but I access the forum almost exclusively by iphone, which makes it tougher. I'm glad this place exists.

    Kindly,
    parallax

lurk more than i poast to this day still, but i've been here and registered since the very early days. can't remember how i found out about this place, probably from stones throw. anyway, i've had more tea-through-the-nose laughs on here than anywhere

Bought a record off of Raj on Ebay in '01 or '02 (He sent a copy of Royale With Beats with the record [good move BTW Raj])

After listening to Royale With Beats for about six months and loving it, I decide to peep the site

Started lurking for a few years before finally joining in '05

  • 'bout ten minutes.

  • It's been so long I don't remember for sure, but I suspect I posted the same day I got here.

For those of us who came from the crates list it was more about continuing a conversation with people we knew.
    So no lurking was necessary.

Can't remember any lurking, but I was once on the Crates list as well. Lurking was probably less common back then, since the community was so small. All the inside jokes and references hadn't evolved yet, and the only people who got hazed were the ones who came across as "wetmouth dealers" trying to glean info.

i find it interesting how many ex crates list peeps ended up here. i guess it was just timing. well done raj!

I used to be on the crates list as well. Just used to browse the faq adds on the-breaks - i registered once ages ago, lost my password and reregistered one day after some of the threads cracked me up.

i was never a message board guy at all, but one day Asprin sent me a link to a thread here where some dude was asking about record spot in my, then, home town of Richmond, VA. I was super protective of those spots and regularly ran out intruders. Without lurking around, i jumped on and threatened the guy asking the initial question.

BIG mistake. people clowned me into submission, but i wound up meeting and making friends with a lot of soul strutters. Been here ever since.

Yet another ex-crates, Aspirin affiliate. Lurked until I had something relevant to say, IIRC it was about Porno flexi-discs or post-Puba Brand Nubian.

  • I lurked for about a year and a half before I joined in. I always looked forward to the Weekend Finds and Monthly Finds threads that would pop up and I would go to the record boutiques thinking I would make a few scores of my own. I found out that the guy who owns the shop I frequent was on Soulstrut, and then I found out one of my friends who was into music was on it as well. Next thing I knew I was registering and ready to contribute. In whatever miniscule way possible.
