i really dug Watchmen, and thought he did as good a job as one could with the source material. 300 was decent. really interested to see what he does with Superman.
I liked Watchmen as well, but passed up on 300.
Sucker Punch is HIS creation so he wont be confined to history/interpretation/legacy.
I cant trust the NY Times to really "GET" the Superhero game.
I'll peep
Yup--Jamie Chung. She's crazy cute, but not cute enough to get me to go see this thing.
liked watchmen, thought that was a 'damned if you do' type situation. really it should have stayed a book. kinda how i hope they never mess with dark knight returns.
thought 300 had suspect racial schitt in it, but i ain't tryin tto turn this thread into racestrut.
i will watch suckerpunch. expect a thin story/excellent visuals.
BELEEDAT.
How much are movies in your area?
I refuse to give 15 dollars to a movie I have a good feeling will be wack to me.
I can wait 4 months for the DVD release or whatever.
TBH, this movie looks dumb but like it can look cool as heck. I'll wait for dvd probably. Next movie i peep is going to be Paul
Same here. The trailer looked offensively bad. And, honestly, sort of agree with the NYT review -- excessive violence against women isn't OK just because the audience knows they will get their revenge. Although, yeah, I guess they can't cross over the line too far since it's rated PG-13.
I waited until The Spirit hit Blu-ray so I could Netflix it for the Eva-Mendes-on-the-copy-machine scene.
As far as new movies go, it's starting to seem like the less CGI, the better chance I will like it.
my bad .....latte pass on the cross reference
Y'all let reviews sway your opinions like that, before you even see it for yourself?
the shit was real real tiresome. it was like watching a mtv video game for 90 minutes. the acting was wretched, the story was real thin and cliched. little to no character development. Waaay too much threatened violence against wwomen/attempted rape. soundtrack (which was pretty much all new covers of old songs...pixies where is my mind, white rabbit, beatles, etc) was real real irritating and never inspiring. special effects were pretty cool, but thats never really enough to keep a movie afloat in my book.
i like most movies too. even dumb shit, i find something to latch onto that will entertain me. this one had me looking at my watch. most interesting thing was my boy drinking a 40 in the front row and convincing the usher he wasnt
i really truly hope everyone of you has a better use of 90 minutes of your life
I don't know if I'd say "sway." A review by a writer I respect can be one factor among many -- actor or director's prior movies, story, poster, whatever. I liked all this guy's other movies, none of them blew me away, but I will probably wait for this one to hit Netflix before watching.
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow?
I totally feel you there. Some great movies have been slammed by critics, CAN'T TRUST IT!
Friends, family, and love.
More than movies I like activities.
When it comes to sitting a spacing out, I am the type of guy that can do that for a few hours just out of a window.
BAN
I dont really get this either.
I decide for myself whether or not I wanna see a movie and seldom, if ever, will a good/bad review change my mind.
I decide based on the actors, my past experience with the director/producer, the story, the look, etc. And most of all friend reccomendations. Cause I actually know my friends and know when they're onto something or are full of shit.
Plus my movie interests are all over the map. I've seen rom coms I liked (though as a genre I hate) and plenty of sci fi/action/mystery that were whack (all genres I generally like).
I can't fathom there being some random dude out there who I don't know who's opinion of movies would dovetail perfectly with mine.
ill maybe cop a torrent if im high and bored enough.
seems like it could be big if done well
this movie looks turrible btw
Yeah. A Heavy Metal / Caligula type affair for the new millennium - i could go for that.
That sam raimi show on Starz, 'Spartacus' was a bit on the soft pornish ultra violent 300's type tip. Definitely a guilty pleasure.
the action next level bananas.
