Tupac was someone who IMO helped solidify the Modern Introspective Style or Proto-Emo Rap if we play this game. Dear Mama might not have that White kid "whoa is me" thang but it he pushed new buttons w/ that one.
I was never a huge Pac fan but I did respect what he did & stood for and for him to write a song like "Dear Mama", at that time, was really taking a chance, IMO. And it definitely paid off. But I think that's one thing Pac could do. He could tackle both ends of the spectrum and not lose any fans or steam, but I guess that's a whole other thread.
