Marc Aryan, born Henri Markarian son of Armenian parents in Valence, france, on 14 november 1934.
Dude is dude for being autodidact, a selfmade man, who started in music by recording his first song in 1959 in paris. He moved to belgium "Knokke-le-Zoute" to play in a night club. A good way to promote his own material to wich he owns all the credits.
DivShare File - parce que t??ime - marc aryan.mp3
After a short international carreer (belg, france, turkey and armenia) he set up a studio where he did mainly production work for others. It was here where "Born to be alive" was recorded (first backing vocals by madonna) and Marvin gaye, who took 8 months to record "Midnight Love" in 1981.
Belgium knows marc best for his big hit ???la lettre??? in 73 wich flip should move all strutteurs in marc???s direction.

I think the lyrics are a huge part and that must hamper peeps
I grew up with a dad whose record collection was 40% chanson so i can't help it
Brel,Brassens,
Ferr??,Ferrat et Barbara
soul markossa ?
when it comes to ferrat
this is stil my fav. tune
DivShare File - l_adresse-du-bonheur---jean-ferrat.mp3
nice ferrat track
what is great is french hiphop that samples chanson
like the strut's own baptman's take on brel

or this
that song is my jam... Intox is good, too... there is a 3 year period where every Ferrat LP has one dope tune... Alain Goraguer gets one song an LP to go nuts on, i guess...
Don't know why but divshare is telling me this track is password protected.
I dig some chanson stuff (my mother used to listen to Joe Dassin and Francoise Hardy a lot). Especially the singers with jazz backgrounds like Boris Vian.
Richard Anthony and Serge Reggiani are some other favorites. My french is awful but it's enough to get an general idea of the lyrics.
This is not exactly chanson but anyway - watch this movie if you haven't yet:
(Le parapluies de Cherbourg)

this i like
les parapluies is a bit too smoosh for my taste
plus its one of them 45's in to many div. picture sleeve.
you always lookin twice at them before you notice
I wouldn't blast the OST at home although there are some nicer uptempo swingy parts that I coudn't find on youtube. But the whole movie with the ultra-saturated colors and the complete dialogue sung is a great piece of art while I imagine it might be over the top for others.
BTW, Magalie Noel is also a great interpreteuse of Boris Vian chansons.
Fait moi mal Johnny
Isabelle Aubret has some decent stuff, too.
that aubret is a bin-classic over here.
with michel you cant go wrong. no mathers who's singing.
i need to check that kino, ein polizist
Took me some time to figure out what you mean. Yep, the movie looks great and from my experience yo can't go wrong with the combination Jean-Pierre Melville - Alain Delon. Le Samourai is a long time favorite.
found this on video the other week.
you can start watching from 1:15 with audio on full blast but the movie bit is also fun to watch:
just checked that Ferrat, it did not work for me... maybe i'll upload it later if need be...
i only fuck w/ the isabelle aubret stuff serge gainsbourg wrote for her...
boris vian is a fucking king!
this record blows me away... it's just so well done...
but for w/ chanson, i can only deal w/ it if something else is added... like Vian adds jazz, Gainsbourg adds jazz, latin, and african influences, Ferrat has Goraguer doing the arrangements, people like Hallyday, Mitchell, and Rivers add rock... but pure chanson singing is a tough one for me...
i admittedly listen more to the people who cover american tunes like Claude Francois...
it's hard for me, b/c as an American, i even hear chanson in someone like Polnareff... he's like chanson mixed w/ Bowie...
