I traveled to the remote North East of Ghana, to a town called Bolgatanga to find the Christie Azumah & The Uppers International LP (the band originated from here). They have this crazy local Kologo music made by the Frafra people. Shit is blasting from every drinking spot at top volume. Mostly all played on traditional intruments and it's just incredible, incredible stuff. Check out King Ayisoba, he's a bit of a local superstar and this track was a national hit last year:

Now I find myself raiding market stalls for CDs and Music Cassettes besides hunting down the vintage vinyl...

My friend and I arranged for a live show of a similar local band in pito (millet based home made beer) bar at a village outside of town for this evening.
