Cover of "A Shot In The Dark" I heard last night..

Yo dudes.
Went to a banger of a night last night, where the DJ played a cover version of A Shot In The Dark (the Mancini track from Pink Panther).
I asked who it was by, but I was so happy and drunk that I only remember the following:
1. It sounded something like 'Joe Lars'. I can't find anything in google or youtube though.
2. It was a 7"
3. It was a promo
Anyone know who it might have been ?
They also played this (which I did remember!)

It had more of a late 60's rock n roll type vibe to it... it was a real jump jiver.
